Well Christmas is over, my vouchers are still itching to be spent
Dark Eldar Covens and Leviathan have kept me amused for the holiday. Talking of Leviathan; if this is the new way forward for Warhammer 40K then I am very excited.
It is designated as a campaign expansion, however, you should really take it as a Codex Tyranids supplement. Why you may ask?
Well, it has all of the background fluff - all be it a very comprehensive single story and then new missions (cunningly Cities of Death), then Echoes of war missions for Tyranids, followed by a Leviathan Force organisation chart, warlord trait and special rules, rounding it all off with new formations and units for Tyranids. The exact recipe for a Codex Supplement - and a very good one at that.
Haemonculus Covens for me is better than it's parent codex. Lots of fluff, plenty of gruesome new rules and a horrific army list for Covens. Seriously, it is possible to only ever use a coven now - and they are horrible.
Now I just need to carry on with my painting and bring my carnival of flesh to the battlefield.
Warhammer players will be enjoying their End Times and the new Skaven armies. I will look forward to Necrons - and with any luck Sisters of Battle.
