Daemonic Disaster

Overlord Hinshaka commanding a force 1500 strong moved to support a battalion under attack in the Acorian Sector. Two squads of warriors and one unit of immortals formed the core of his army with two sentry pylons anchoring his position. The remainder of his force would remain in reserve.

Five major buildings dominated the battleground when they arrived just as chaos daemons appeared on the horizon and seized the initiative, advancing across the plain. Two large squads of troops were led by a huge daemonic creature, on the left some form of daemonic cavalry threatened, on the right a mysterious war machine lumbered forward.

The machine was immobilised early on by long range fire from the pylons and early casualties were light as the range remained distant. Then, deep striking on our left a squad of daemonettes appeared to hamper our left hand warriors, preventing them firing overwatch when assaulted by the advancing cavalry.

Our warriors broke on the left and fled, meanwhile daemonic powers knocked out both sentry pylons. Orbital debris fell on our immortals on the right who had suffered losses from the immobilised machine. The enemy were advancing en masse across the centre, and had already reached the central objective.

Things were desperate, but our reserves began to arrive, first on the left the Doom Scythe NNV Eldar Bane supported by the Night Shroud NNV Stratospheric Majesty. The Majesty bombed the daemon cavalry and the tesla disrupters began inflicting casualties on the enemy troops.

The fleeing warriors rallied, but the cavalry now got amongst Hinshaka’s troops who had swung left to meet the threat, and they would be destroyed by the overwhelming melee superiority of the enemy. The second warrior unit was finished off next. Meanwhile on the right the Night Scythe NNV Vulture had arrived and disgorged its deathmarks. Supported by the advancing immortals, these destroyed the leading enemy troops.

The other enemy troops suffered a major setback, losing half their number when they triggered a booby trap in the objective they were occupying. How tragic.

The enemy fire took a toll however and the daemon vector struck the deathmarks and they were wiped out quickly. The immortals fell too and though the Majesty inflicted further losses with its bombing and disruptors and the other two fliers continued inflicting more damage including finishing off the daemonettes, but as the action broke off, only the three fliers remained for us.

The daemons had lost only two units with some losses to their cavalry and more to their last troop unit. Even the huge daemon was wounded, but then the Majesty had also been slightly damaged. Rallied strength was 500, a loss rate of only two thirds compared to enemy losses estimated at 50% or more, but the outcome was a serious tactical defeat.

This is what happens when a man brings a knife to a gun fight. Eldar Bane!!! No wonder you lost - Daemons care not for the Eldar. Meanwhile the hosts of the Dark City will sip blood wine in honour of your defeat.

Thanks for those few kind words of solace, I really must look up my old dark eldar friends again soon, seems they need reminding of their manners...
