It is the 31st Millennium, the dawning of a new Imperium of Man is about to birth. The Emperors Great Crusade is nearing its end and his favourite son, Horus Lupercal, has been named Warmaser; to finish what he started. But, unseen by the Emperor, mankind is frail and despite the new age of science and understanding, there are those that cannot conceive of there being "no God" and so it would be that they create a new one. As the Emperors Son, Lorgar - Primarch of the Word Bearers, teaches, if a man can create beings in his image, give them the power ti rule the galaxy, give them strength to survive, give them knowledge to understand and technology to conquer; how can he be anything but a God? And so it is written both in the Word and the Lectitio Divinitatus, the Emperors work was undone by his own success - The God Emperor is born against his will.
Now the Emperors Sons have turned against him, lead by Horus of his now named Sons of Horus and their allies the World Eaters, Emperors Children and Death Guard. But Garro, Captain within the Death Guard, has turned his back on his own brothers in loyalty to his Emperor above all else. He returns to Terra aboard the Eisenstein to inform the Emperor of Horus' treachery.
Meanwhile, forces conspire against the Imperium on a small planet of Occulus Secundus in the Ultima Segmentum. The planetary Governor has called upon help by sending a general distress to any nearby Astartes for immediate aid. Key industry and infrastructure has been targeted over several months and been hindering output of the Imperial Tithe.
At first it was believed to be the work of deviants and heretics, but after accounts and testimonies from survivors claiming ghost like spectres to be responsible, the PDF became involved. Taking the testimonies to be little more than ramblings of mad men, the PDF treated the threat with the contempt it deserved. This would be their first and last mistake.
Within a week of deployment the entire PDF had been systematically wiped out by unknown technologies. Seismic activity and eldritch powers had rendered the forces powerless to resist. It is not known if the Governor or populace have survived as moments after sending the distress signal the planet was cut off. A final message in a strange metallic rasping voice was overlapped into the signal - "Ogan Rising"
The distress call has been received by a small contingent of Space Wolves and Blood Angels, who forwarded onto to a small fleet of Angrons' World Eaters. Commander Dante and Bjorn the Fellhanded were the first to arrive and orders were received thereafter by ANgron, to secure the planetfall in lieu of his arrival. For both companies, planetfall was a mere formality and a garrison set up for Angrons arrival.
With the World Eaters now in orbit, the message "Ogan Rising" has been received yet again. Scans of the planet show that seismic activity has commenced and now the legions prepare for battle - buta battle of Apocalyptic scale.
But what is Angrons motive; for the Heresy has already began - as the Sons of Russ and Sangiunus are about to find out.
